CHAPTER FOUR
Exposition
Here is our protagonist. He raises a paw. “Hello,” he...speaks?! He is taken aback by the newfound language. He thinks for a time, then says, “Hey, look.” Does he have someone to whom he can direct his statements? Or is it all–
“I think I can take it from here.”
Oh, come on, you need narration.
“Do I really?”
Um...yes...oh, at least speaker tags and actions? Please?
“Fine,” he sighs, rolling his eyes, “But remember that you’re not the star.”
Our protagonist smiles at this novel power. To bend words at his will is something of which he had never dreamt. Hmm..., he thinks. I wonder... “Support! Develop!” he calls as his friends walk in.
“What? What is it?” Support sounds concerned.
“Come on, tell us!” Develop implores.
Tell us. Our protagonist lights up at the mere thought of the phrase. He can do anything he wants now! Then why do I still feel like there’s something missing?, he thinks. “I...” he hesitates before looking up at his two friends with a wild, determined glimmer in his eyes. “I want to go to the park.”
His friends happily obliged, and they eventually find the portal. With reckless abandon and no farewell, he runs straight through.
Though, that might have been his biggest mistake.
